Watch the Youtube Video and think about the questions below. Be prepared to discuss with the rest of the class.

1. What were some of the questions the Aboriginals had when they saw the Europeans? Put youself in the shoes of an Aboriginal teenager. What other questions might you have had?
2. What animal did they think the Europeans might be? What would have led them to think this?
3. What caused the Aboriginals to be confused as to whether the Europeans were men or women? Explain why this would have been confusing for the Aboriginal people.
4. What trait did Arthur Phillip possess that led the Aborignies to believe he was an Elder? Why was this significant to the Aboriginal people?
5. What disaster struck in 1789? Why did this have such an effect on the Aboriginals?
